There are many benefits of bringing your vehicle to regular Porsche maintenance appointments at our service center. One of the lesser-known advantages of regular service is an improved fuel economy.
Tire Inflation
Not only are underinflated tires dangerous, but they can also decrease your vehicle’s fuel economy. During your service appointment, we will check to make sure all your tires are properly inflated and maintained. We will also check the condition of your tires, keeping an eye out for any punctures or tears that could cause air leakage.
While properly inflated tires can improve your car’s fuel economy, we do not recommend overinflating your tires. An overinflated tire is much more susceptible to tire wear, or even a complete tire blowout. Always follow your vehicle’s recommended tire pressure PSI, which can be found on the driver’s side door or in your owner’s manual.
Oil Change
It’s no secret that it’s important to get your oil changed regularly. Oil lubricates the engine to keep it running smoothly. Over time, your engine oil begins to solidify into a sludge. If you don’t change it in a timely manner, the engine will have to work twice as hard to run, thus increasing its fuel consumption.
Fresh, clean oil will allow the engine to run more efficiently, requiring less gasoline to do so. At your next service appointment, we will change the engine oil and oil filter. Other benefits to changing your oil frequently include an improved engine life and decreased vehicle emissions. If you aren’t sure how often to get your oil changed, give our Porsche service department a call or check your owner’s manual for a service interval timeline.
